Volcanic Escape: This 38 km cycling loop runs alongside the majestic basalt columns of the Coiron volcano in Ardèche. This scenic adventure takes you through authentic villages such as Lussas, Mirabel, Darbres, Saint-Jean-le-Centenier, and the charming village of Saint-Laurent-sous-Coiron. The starting point is in Saint-Jean-le-Centenier, about 22 km from the house.
Via Ardèche: The Via Ardèche offers remarkable views over the plains of southern Ardèche, the Ardèche River, and the Cévennes mountains. Today, more than 63 km are fully developed between Aubenas, Uzer, and Grospierres, and between Pléoux and Saint-Paul-le-Jeune. In between, a 5 km shared section through Beaulieu completes the route. Between Grospierres and Beaulieu, a 14 km connecting section on low-traffic roads has been signposted while awaiting the final route. An additional 8 km of discontinuous sections exist between Aubenas and Lalevade-d’Ardèche. This route can be accessed about 20 km from the house.
The Adèchoise – Gorges and Tanargue: : One of the most beautiful routes of the event, the Gorges loop showcases some of the most stunning landscapes in the region. After riding through the basalt massifs of the Coiron, you are led toward the southern Ardèche, surrounded by lively villages. On the way to the watershed dividing the Atlantic and Mediterranean basins, you can admire the majestic Ardèche Gorges. The highlight is the breathtaking view of the river’s meanders from the Serre de Tourre, followed a few kilometers later by the famous Pont d’Arc—an unforgettable moment. This route can also be reached about 20 km from the house.
Laulagner is the starting point for numerous trails offering breathtaking viewpoints, perfect for escaping by bike—especially on a mountain bike. The paths wind through garrigue landscapes and evergreen oaks, and along the ridgelines they overlook picturesque villages and hamlets. The forest hides treasures dating back to Gallo-Roman times, such as an oppidum, the Chastelas de Baravon, and the ruins of Manaval.
Other trails take you through either the lushness of vineyards or the rugged dryness of the hills. Feeling the heat? You can opt for the swimming pool or head down into the valley’s hidden spots, where natural swimming areas await. The Ibie River, turbulent during winter floods, almost disappears in summer beneath the pebbles. Its water re-emerges in a pure emerald hue, forming crystal-clear pools that are perfect for a refreshing dip.
From the house, families can enjoy these routes at their own pace, while experienced mountain bikers can also satisfy their thirst for adventure in these wild and little-frequented landscapes.
